How to Stop Cycling Related Anxiety

A lot of the anxiety we feel in training or racing doesn’t come from fitness.  It comes from disconnection.

We lose connection between:

  • Our Purpose (our why we ride),

  • Our Perspective (who we are + what we’ve been through),

  • Our Vision (where we want this to take us).

When those three aren’t aligned, things start to feel blurry.

That blur shows up as:

  • Feeling overwhelmed before intervals

  • Comparing yourself to other riders

  • Worrying how a race or workout will go

  • Doubting if you “belong” in the group

Anxiety often isn’t about the moment itself,  it’s about trying to predict outcomes you can’t know yet.

And when we predict instead of being present, we drift away from our values and identity.

So the goal is not to “eliminate anxiety.”
It’s to reconnect:

  • Reconnect to why you ride.

  • Reconnect to who you are and everything you’ve already overcome.

  • Reconnect to where you want to go and the rider you’re becoming.

From that place the effort becomes clear.
